Specialized was founded in 1974 selling imported Italian parts in Amercia by 1976 they had started producing their own parts. In 1981 they produced their first two bike models, the Sequoia and The Allez quickly followed by their first mountain bike the Stumpjumper. They have gone on to become one of the three biggest cycle manufacturers along with Trek and Giant.
